On being a morning person.
John, at Going Gently confesses today that he is
not a morning person.
I am.
What we both have in common however
is the desire for silence.
No agendas, no questions, no requests, no radio...please no radio.
Let me transcend from sleep into consciousness seamlessly.
Give my heart time to open slowly as the dawn breaks.
Allow my sleepy body to shake off its torpor.
This morning I lovingly watch as husband pours me coffee;
noticing his broad shoulders straining the old white bathrobe.
The same shoulders that have borne me up for oh so many years.
This morning-silence can be a very loving place.
Let me stay here, just a little longer;
just until I finish my coffee.
