Friday Photo Challenge

Astonishing isn't it?

That the hulking wings of a metal bird
can transport one from this...

to this...

from this...

to this...

from this...

to this...

from this...

to this...

from here...

to here...

from this outdoors...

to this one...

...in something as irrelevant as time.

My submission this Friday to
photo challenge for this week.

Pets!

First, a confession...I don't have a pet.

But I do have

A Grandpuppy

Miss Daisy

and a Grandkitten

Hankypants

...they are great sisters.

This was one of our first pets when V. and I were growing up...

Jamie, a black poodle.

A really smart dog.

We also had an afghan hound, Kahli,
a not so smart dog, who kept running away.

Our dad was really sick at the time and forever trying to find the dog was a stress Mum didn't need.  So to try and discourage this aberrant behaviour, the vet recommended getting a companion for the afghan.  Being responsible pet-owners, Mum and Dad bought Jamie.

He was so smart,
he would pull down the rope that restrained the afghan;
Kahli would chew through it;
and the two of them would run off!

Pets!

This is my submission, this week for

and just for a laugh, if you get the chance, watch the
old BBC series Auf Wiedersehen Pet

absolutely nothing to do with animals...well sort of!

Sparkle!

Razmataz's photo challenge this week is

FESTIVE!

I confess to being a bit of a magpie...I love things that sparkle,
so festive, sparkle and Christmas for me
are all synonomous.

snowflakes...

Christmas angel and dove of peace.

And here is my sparkly new top
that I am going to wear over the holidays

Bling!

Thanks for hosting Chania!

Vignette...

My sweet girl's poor broken wrist.

Seven weeks on and here's what it looks like out of the cast.

The orthopedic surgeon is so happy.  He says that funny looking lump on the right is perfectly normal. Just the way Mother Nature heals (I soooooo like to hear that).
The best physio is... 'just go back to work'... she is a chef.

Here are her beautiful, gentle, creative, tiny hands...

Can't help loving having my girl here!
Here's my contribution to Razmataz's
photo challenge this week...Vignette.

HAND MADE

Hand Made?  Heart Made?..the same thing, I think.

My hands are tools I use in daily life.
Bearing scars of wounds that occur
As I do the things I love.
Not beautiful or elegant in the classic sense,
But graciously expressing my heart's content.

I have this piece of art that speaks to my heart.

Created by the hands and heart of the artist, Erin Boniferro.

For me this piece speaks of strength and vulnerability,

courage and tenderness,

brutality and delicacy...

all the wonderful contrasts that go to make up a human being.

Here you can see the gold thread that forms the outline of the lion's head,

and here the delicate pink silk ribbon tied into its mane.

This piece of art brings me unending joy.

Erin presently runs her own shop-front art centre in Vancouver.
She teaches classes and sells art supplies and books.

She created this centre by hand from her heart too...(with lots of help from other hands).

Here's a video from her blog.
If you live in Vancouver, or happen to visit, stop by.

She's a lovely woman, my eldest daughter's best friend growing up.
She also happens to be my best friend's daughter.

PATTERN

This week's photo challenge from Chania at Razmataz
is Pattern

Patterns in nature are overwhelmingly governed by a clever mathmatical equation called
The Golden Mean, or The Golden Ration or Divine Proportion.

Essentially this:

and it appears in the pattern of everthing from the nautilus shell,

to the segments of a grapefruit.

It's found in the patterns of design in Notre Dame,

the parthenon

and even in Da Vinci's Last Supper.

Charles-Édouard JeanneretLe Corbusier, the Swiss architect and designer is said to have adhered closely to this pattern when designing his furniture.

I know this is a photo-challenge, so to make it a legitimate entry the last photo is mine, taken in the kitchen of our house in Florida.
